Uber says AI agents booked just four rides and about 500 Uber Eats orders in the week of Halloween

On its third-quarter earnings call, Uber said that in the week of Halloween, its busiest week in October, Uber and Uber Eats handled about 320 million trips and orders. Third-party AI agents booked just four of those rides and placed about 500 Uber Eats orders. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi called the traction "very, very early and very limited," but said agents are another way to reach the platform and should be a net positive for demand. Uber is open to working with third-party AI companies while not being dependent on any one player. He noted that booking a ride in the Uber app takes 50 seconds on average and re-ordering a favorite meal takes 90 seconds. DoorDash said on its own earnings call last week that it has received only a few hundred orders from AI agents so far.

Why it matters

It is the first time Uber has disclosed how many rides and orders third-party AI agents place on its platform, and the numbers show few people use agents to book rides or order food yet.
