Oracle and Google to offer Google TPUs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure starting in 2027
Oracle and Google said on October 27 that Google's TPUs will be offered through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), which Oracle calls the first time TPUs will be on a hyperscale cloud outside Google. Availability is planned for 2027, ramping over several years, for training, post-training and inference. CNBC reported OCI will also add OpenAI's Jalapeño chip and Cerebras hardware.
Why it matters: With compute scarce, clouds are adding accelerators beyond NVIDIA GPUs; Google selling its TPUs through another cloud widens their reach, though availability only starts in 2027.
