Professional AI headshots

About HeadshotPro

HeadshotPro is an online AI headshot service: users upload a few selfies, pick backdrops and outfits, and receive professional headshots for LinkedIn, a resume or a team page in about 15 minutes to 2 hours. Danny Postma launched it in 2023; the About page claims over $10,000,000 in revenue since launch. Individuals pay once ($29, $39 or $59), teams buy volume-discounted credits, and Enterprise is quoted; there is no subscription. Recent work centers on teams: a shared dashboard, an API, Zapier, single sign-on and a SOC 2 Type II report. Refunds require no downloads within 14 days.

What it is

HeadshotPro is an online AI headshot service. Users upload a few selfies and choose backdrops and outfits, and the service generates a set of professional headshots for LinkedIn, resumes, company team pages, sales decks and speaker bios. The home page pitches "professional headshots without a studio", with results in as little as 15 minutes and 30 to 70 headshots per shoot.

There are three product lines. Individuals buy a one-time plan and select their own photos. Teams buy credits, where one credit covers one person's full shoot; an admin locks the backdrops and outfits, invites members to upload selfies, tracks progress in a dashboard and downloads everything in bulk. Enterprise targets organizations above 1,000 people with a per-head quote, single sign-on, directory provisioning, a signed MSA and Net-30 invoicing.

The About page gives the official numbers: 17,000,000 headshots generated, more than 200,000 shoots completed, more than $10,000,000 in revenue since launch, and large-company teams such as HubSpot's sales team among its users. The home page separately says it is "trusted by 250,000+ customers". These are company figures.

The terms of service and privacy policy name Headshot Pro Photography Pte. Ltd. as the operator. The About page credits Danny Postma as founder and says the product launched in 2023 after a rough proof of concept in 2022, reaching quality good enough for everyday professional use by early 2025.

On privacy, the pricing page and the security overview say uploaded selfies are deleted automatically 30 days after generation and customer photos and outputs are never used to train any model; the security overview also lists encryption in transit and at rest and a SOC 2 Type II audit.

A headshot has to look polished, and it has to look like you.

Core capabilities

First, the generation model. A blog post on 2026-03-24 announced a model rebuilt from scratch: 1 to 3 selfies instead of 15, about 10 minutes to deliver 40 photos (24 up front plus 16 chosen by the user), and an editor that keeps expression, pose and framing while swapping the backdrop or outfit. The post says the old model needed up to 2 hours of training.

Second, style control. Individuals can browse the full style library or press "Choose for me" to let the AI pair backdrops and outfits. Teams can lock a set of styles so every member generates only within it; the pricing comparison table lists up to 12 custom backdrops and 5 custom outfits for teams, plus branded templates that put the company logo on profile pictures.

Third, team administration. The team dashboard supports email invites with automatic reminders, open invite links restricted to a company email domain, bulk upload and bulk download, CSV export of member status, Owner, Admin and Member roles, and scheduled automatic shoot renewals. The Advanced Identity page says every invite is a one-time sign-in link sent to the member's work email, so members never create a password or download any software.

Fourth, integrations. The API documentation covers the current V2 endpoints for inviting members, managing teams, reading generated photos, checking credit balances and white-label embedding, with V1 kept for compatibility; the pricing page lists a rate limit of 300 requests per minute for teams, plus webhooks. A blog post on 2025-07-11 announced a Zapier integration that can send a shoot invite automatically when an HR system adds a new hire.

Fifth, security and compliance paperwork. A blog post on 2025-08-20 announced a completed SOC 2 Type 2 audit; the Trust Center lists a report period of April to July 2025, a penetration test from the first quarter of 2025 and a data processing agreement. The pricing page says the SOC 2 report and the DPA are available to every customer, not only Enterprise.

Sixth, identity management. A blog post on 2026-02-02 announced enterprise single sign-on with SAML 2.0 identity providers such as Okta, Azure AD and Google Workspace, including just-in-time provisioning, domain verification, enforced SSO and exportable sign-in logs. The Advanced Identity page says the feature runs on WorkOS and any Teams organization can turn it on as a paid add-on.

Who it's for / Not for

Good fit: individuals who need a professional headshot without booking a photographer. The pricing page sets individual plans at $29 to $59 with turnaround from about 2 hours down to about 15 minutes.

Good fit: teams with steady hiring that need a consistent look. Team credits never expire, so an admin can buy a batch and use it as new people join; with the style locked, new photos match the ones already on the team page. The HubSpot case study says its sales team has used the service since 2025.

Good fit: companies whose procurement asks for compliance documents. The SOC 2 Type II report, the DPA, single sign-on, directory provisioning and a signed MSA are all listed on the pricing page.

Not a fit: anyone under 18. The terms of service require users to be at least 18.

Not a fit: people who want to download photos first and decide on a refund later. The refund page offers a full refund only within 14 days of payment and only if no photo from the order has been downloaded; a single download ends self-serve refund eligibility.

Not a fit: anyone expecting every photo to be usable. The refund page says that orders include some "wacky" photos and most photos won't be keepers; the 2024 comparison article also mentions failed images with extra limbs.

How it compares

Against a studio shoot, the pricing FAQ says a studio session usually costs $300 to $800 per person, while a full HeadshotPro shoot costs $29 to $59. The workflow differs too: no appointment and no travel, since each team member uploads selfies from a phone.

Against Aragon. The Aragon pricing page (as of 2026-10-25) shows a limited-time 20% discount: Basic $35 (list $44) for 40 headshots in about 45 minutes; Standard $45 (list $56) for 60 headshots in about 30 minutes; Executive $75 (list $94) for 100 headshots in about 15 minutes at higher resolution. The HeadshotPro pricing page (as of 2026-10-25) shows Basic $29 for 30 headshots in about 2 hours, Professional $39 for 50 headshots in about 30 minutes, and Executive $59 for 70 headshots in about 15 minutes with 4K downloads.

The Aragon pricing page offers a full refund for unsatisfactory, undownloaded photos, or a free redo; HeadshotPro requires no downloads within 14 days of payment, and Professional and Executive add one free redo within 14 days. Both offer SOC 2 Type II documentation, and the Aragon pricing page names Prescient Security as its auditor.

HeadshotPro publishes its own comparison: 11 tools tested in May 2024, updated 2024-06-25, with HeadshotPro first, Dreamwave second and Aragon third. The article opens by noting that the author founded HeadshotPro and is biased.

Getting started

The individual flow has three steps. First, the user uploads a few selfies from a phone or laptop, or takes them on the spot; the home page says auto-validation catches bad photos before a shoot starts. Second, the user selects backdrop and outfit combinations, or presses "Choose for me". Third, results arrive; favorites can be marked, single JPEGs or a ZIP downloaded and photos edited, and Executive adds 4K downloads.

The 2024 comparison article explains the mechanism: the prompt carries a random token the model has never seen, and the model is trained on the uploaded selfies until that token stands for the person's face; clearer selfies that look like the person day to day produce closer results.

The team flow starts with one personal shoot. The pricing page lays out the flow: the HR or marketing lead tries it first, then creates the organization, locks the team style and invites members; members join by email invite or a domain-restricted link, upload their own selfies, and the admin sees who has finished before downloading everything in bulk.

Teams that want to connect their own systems can create an API key in organization settings and call the V2 endpoints described in the API documentation, which return JSON in a consistent format; teams that prefer no code can use Zapier to turn an HR onboarding event into a shoot invite.

The pricing FAQ says download links for kept photos last 7 days and uploaded selfies and generated results are deleted automatically after 30 days; the security overview gives a different retention period for generated results, covered in the risks section.

Pricing & license

Individual plans are one-time payments, with no monthly or annual price. The HeadshotPro pricing page (as of 2026-10-25) lists three tiers: Basic $29 for 30 headshots in about 2 hours with 6 photo credits; Professional $39 for 50 headshots in about 30 minutes with 26 photo credits and one free redo within 14 days; Executive $59 for 70 headshots in about 15 minutes with 46 photo credits, 4K downloads and both portrait and landscape formats.

Teams buy credits, and one credit covers one person's full shoot with 40 headshots, one free retry and 16 photo credits. The teams page title says "from $39/person"; the pricing page says discounts start at 20% off from 5 credits and reach 50% off at 1,000 credits or more, counted on lifetime purchases, which is why the team starting price reads $19.50. Credits never expire.

Enterprise is for organizations above 1,000 people, quoted per head, and includes SSO and SCIM provisioning, a signed MSA, Net-30 invoicing and dedicated rollout support. The pricing page says SSO can also be added on its own as an add-on billed at what the identity provider charges HeadshotPro, with no markup. Small photo-credit packs can be bought for extra edits.

Payment: individuals pay by card through Stripe or by PayPal; teams pay by card or bank transfer, with invoices and a credit-activity log in the billing dashboard. The pricing page says there is no subscription, nothing renews and there are no seat licenses.

On licensing, the terms grant a limited license to access and use the service for personal and commercial purposes, and HeadshotPro assigns to the user whatever rights it has (if any) in headshots generated from the user's selfies. The product itself is a proprietary commercial service.

Risks & limits

The terms of service require users to be 18 or older and send disputes to binding individual arbitration, with users waiving jury trials and class actions.

Refunds come with conditions. The terms allow a full refund only within 14 days and only if no generated photo has been downloaded; refunds for change of mind or other non-quality reasons are at HeadshotPro's discretion; a team account that has created 10 or more models is refunded minus processing and generation costs; and after one refund, later purchases by the same user or team are final unless the law says otherwise.

The training promise is worded differently in different places. The pricing page, the teams page and the security overview say photos are "never" used to train models; the terms say uploaded photos will not be used to train generative models or for marketing without the user's prior written consent, and they reserve the right to aggregate user data with other users' data.

Policy documents also disagree with each other. The privacy policy mentions deleting personal information "when your subscription expires", while the pricing page says there is no subscription; for generated results, the pricing FAQ says they are deleted after 30 days, while the security overview says they stay available for the life of the account and can be exported within 30 days of account termination.

The refund page says most photos won't be keepers, and the comparison article mentions failed images; the March 2026 blog post says the new model is more realistic.

Customer counts by page: the home page says 250,000+ customers, the refund page 200,000+ happy customers, the blog footer 196,987, and the jobs page 150,000+ paying customers; the About page counts 200,000+ shoots.

How it got here

February 2021: according to Bootstrappers.com, Danny Postma sold Headlime, a GPT-3 copywriting tool, for a seven-figure sum. The Indie Hackers podcast on 2023-05-05 said the non-compete attached to that sale kept Danny Postma away from text-generation products, which pushed the work toward image AI.

2022: Danny Postma first built Stock AI, an AI stock-photo site; the transcript of The Bootstrapped Founder podcast from 2023-08-09 says the quality wasn't there, people wouldn't pay, and there was fear of a cease-and-desist from a stock-photo company. Next came Profile Picture AI, built in about 30 hours; Bootstrappers.com says it went viral on Twitter and made over $100,000 before Lensa took most of the business, and the podcast describes revenue sliding to almost nothing.

March 2023: Bootstrappers.com says Danny Postma built a proprietary model and launched HeadshotPro on Twitter, reaching six-figure sales within a week. An AI fashion-model product, Deep Agency, launched at the same time; in the podcast's account Deep Agency drew plenty of press but almost no sales, so the focus moved to headshots.

May to August 2023: the Indie Hackers podcast said HeadshotPro passed $300,000 five weeks after launch. At the time of The Bootstrapped Founder interview the product was about six months old, and Danny Postma talked about moving from solo founder to a small team, hiring senior people for the areas outside the founder's strengths.

2024: the comparison article, updated 2024-06-25, calls HeadshotPro an AI photo studio "founded in 2022" and run by a small team.

2025: Zapier arrived on 2025-07-11, and a completed SOC 2 Type 2 audit was announced on 2025-08-20. A case study from the development agency Borah describes two years of work together: rebuilding the enterprise team platform, moving storage from Google Cloud to Cloudflare R2 with automatic failover; the case study says enterprise customers grew fivefold after the team platform launched.

2026: enterprise single sign-on launched on 2026-02-02, a new generation model on 2026-03-24, and the terms of service and privacy policy were updated on 2026-10-22.

As of October 2026: the About page lists 17,000,000 headshots, more than 200,000 shoots and more than $10,000,000 in revenue, and the site sells individual, team and enterprise plans. The official sub-processor list names Replicate and Features & Labels, which is Fal.ai, as "AI Processing and Training" sub-processors.

The jobs page describes a team of 4, more than 150,000 paying customers, no outside funding and solid profits, with a frontend in Vue.js, Nuxt 2 and Tailwind CSS and a backend on Node.js and MongoDB.

Our verdict

HeadshotPro generates professional headshots online from uploaded selfies; individual plans are one-time payments of $29 to $59 with no subscription; the team plan adds a locked style, a team dashboard, an API, Zapier and single sign-on, and the SOC 2 Type II report and DPA are available to every customer on request.

Its limits: downloading any photo ends self-serve refund eligibility, while viewing in the browser does not; the refund page says most photos won't be keepers; the pricing page, the security overview and the terms word training use and retention of generated results differently; the terms require users to be 18 or older and send disputes to individual arbitration.

Why it stands out

Danny Postma's HeadshotPro turns selfies into professional headshots. It reports more than 17 million headshots generated and over $10,000,000 in revenue since launch (as reported by the vendor). Individual plans are one-time payments ($29/$39/$59), with team credits and custom enterprise pricing.
