Bring reactive Python to any site
marimo has released three open-source integrations, quarto-marimo, jupyter-book-marimo and mdx-marimo, that place reactive Python cells inside Quarto sites, Jupyter Books and MDX pages while the host framework keeps control of layout, navigation and deployment. All three rely on marimo islands, which execute cells once at build time to produce initial HTML and then reconnect them in the browser through Pyodide when a reader opens the page. The marimo export md command converts a .py notebook into each host's format, and the post cautions that Pyodide does not fully match a local Python install.
The host integration owns source parsing and output placement.
