How marimo notebooks bring Altair charts to life
marimo shows how wrapping an Altair chart in mo.ui.altair_chart lets selections made in the browser flow back into Python as a filtered DataFrame. The notebook picks interaction defaults from the chart's mark type and encodings, sends columnar data to cut frontend payloads by up to 80 percent, and offers mo.ui.data_explorer for browsing datasets. Reactivity for geospatial and pre-aggregated data is not yet supported, though marimo says it is on the roadmap.
