Warp is now open-source
Terminal maker Warp open-sourced its client under the AGPLv3, and the Hacker News thread drew 237 points and 173 comments. Warp's founder wrote that building with the community and agents should produce a better product faster, and that the business now centers on its agent orchestration platform Oz. Many commenters said Warp's homepage pushes AI so hard that its terminal improvements get lost, while others criticized the company for building early work on Alacritty and raising 50 million dollars without funding that open-source project.
But the tl;dr is that I actually think we can build a better product, more quickly if we build it with our community + agents.
