marimo 0.25.0 rebuilds sandboxing and adds Pixi as a backend, which brings Conda packages, native libraries and non-Python runtimes into notebook environments; uv stays the default and Pixi is opt-in with --sandbox=pixi. Because the editor now starts apart from notebook kernels, sandboxed notebooks open sooner. Expanded cell outputs can be stored in the notebook, and WebAssembly notebooks export to a single HTML file or an offline bundle.
uv remains the default; use --sandbox=pixi to opt in.
