Engineering grid flexibility at scale: why Voltus chose marimo
A staff software engineer at Voltus, a virtual power plant operator managing 8.5 GW of distributed energy resources, says cross-team work in Jupyter meant patching gaps such as missing version control with ad hoc file naming. After a trial in early 2025, marimo spread across the company, with notebooks plugging into a Dagster-based scheduler, and the team embedded a marimo sandbox in its docs so partners can schedule test dispatches themselves and watch the results live.
Using marimo, we embedded a reactive, self-service sandbox directly into our documentation.
