How Vodacom uses marimo to drive operational intelligence across 15,000 mobile network sites

Vodacom, South Africa's largest telecom operator, runs more than 15,000 cell sites and handles millions of telemetry records daily while coping with rolling power cuts and rising energy costs. Jaco du Toit, who heads AI/ML and data technology strategy there, says his team builds marimo apps for energy efficiency, geospatial planning and core network anomaly detection that executives and operations staff use directly. He says work that once needed full data science and engineering teams can often be prototyped and put into service within marimo.

While Jupyter notebooks are still used for some data ingestion workflows, marimo has increasingly become the preferred environment for building interactive, production-oriented analytical applications.
