May 2026 - Package Imports and Target Aliases
Starting with shadcn@4.7.0, the shadcn CLI reads package.json imports, so private # aliases can drive component installs, import rewriting and third-party registry resolution instead of relying only on tsconfig.json paths, including in monorepos. Registry items can also use target aliases in files[].target to place files inside the user's configured shadcn directories.
We've added support for package imports and aliases in files.target in shadcn@4.7.0 .
