SpaceX commits to a roughly $40 billion GPU finance lease with an Apollo-managed entity, with leases set to start in the first half of 2027
SpaceX's Oct. 26 8-K says it signed a binding commitment on Oct. 24 for a master finance lease: an Apollo-managed entity will buy GPUs and related equipment and lease them to SpaceX in tranches of about 5 to 5.25 years, for about $40 billion in principal. Closing is expected by year-end; leases start in H1 2027. Apollo and Goldman Sachs lead the financing; Goldman is sole structuring agent.
Why it matters
SpaceX says the lease will fund NVIDIA Vera Rubin chips. Its AI segment brought in $7.6 billion of $14.6 billion in Q3 revenue, and the CFO expects $35–40 billion in Q4 capex. Musk also predicted a neocloud shakeout, his own view.
