Nous Research ships Hermes Agent 0.23: Desktop in a browser tab, one gateway for every surface

On November 5, Nous Research released open-source agent runtime Hermes Agent v0.23.0 (Hearth) on GitHub. Your local gateway can serve the full Desktop workspace in a browser tab (off by default; enable webapp.enabled or Web Access in Settings). On one machine, the CLI, TUI, Desktop, editors, bots, and cron all attach to a single gateway-owned session so surfaces no longer each run their own agent against the same chat. The terminal adds conversation rewind (Esc Esc or /rewind) to edit and resend an earlier prompt or fork a new session. Paid MCP tools can declare per-call prices with per-chat spend limits, and the plugin catalog grew from about 600 to more than 1,050 entries.

Why it matters

If every surface runs its own agent copy, chats drift. One gateway plus a browser Desktop makes self-hosted agent setups feel like a normal desktop.
