Sandflow releases Sand3D: 106,094 3D objects as one Python code substrate for language models
Sandflow’s Hugging Face blog presents the open sand3d library and Sand3D dataset: 106,094 3D objects (10,456 articulated), each as a short Python program spanning Objaverse, CAD, and articulated assemblies, with OpenUSD exports and renders. The library is on PyPI, with docs at sand3d.sandflow.ai. Versus Blender’s Python API (bpy) and other editor-oriented APIs, sand3d uses one regular structure of named parts and parameters; on 30 hand-written CAD parts, the same part took 3.8 times fewer tokens in sand3d than in Blender Python a language model wrote for it.
Why it matters
It gives code-to-3D a runnable, parameterized code substrate that is easier for language models to learn and edit than messy meshes.
