At Universe 2026 on Oct 28, GitHub made Copilot Fusion generally available: users choose Fusion and a Standard, High or Max effort level, and Copilot picks and combines models for each task. GitHub says Fusion Max scored 60 on the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index, within two points of Claude Code with Opus 5.5 Max, at about half the cost per task.
