Granola launches free cross-app voice typing on Mac, expanding beyond meeting notes

AI meeting-notes app Granola launched voice typing on Oct 29: on a Mac, users press the Fn key and speak, and Granola cleans up the speech, adds punctuation and paragraph breaks, and inserts the text into any app for notes, AI prompts, emails or messages. Granola says it is free with unlimited words; it is Mac-only for now, with iOS and Windows planned.

Why it matters

Granola, valued at $1.5B, began as a meeting notetaker; dictation tool Wispr ($2B) added meeting notes months ago. Granola moving into dictation shows voice AI apps converging to own users' everyday input.
