Deepgram to acquire Pipecat maker Daily, plans independent Pipecat Foundation
Deepgram announced on Oct 29 it is acquiring Daily; terms weren't disclosed. Deepgram will keep building Daily's realtime infrastructure and make Pipecat, Daily's open-source agent framework, the core of its new voice AI products. Pipecat will move to a new independent foundation whose steering committee includes Deepgram rivals. Deepgram also launched RCS, an open voice-agent protocol.
Why it matters
Pipecat is an open-source framework for realtime voice agents. Once the deal closes, Deepgram would add the orchestration layer and realtime network infrastructure to its models while handing the framework to an independent foundation.
