What I love about Django

The founder of newsletter platform Buttondown reflects on what Django has given the company, arguing that its well-judged structure makes the framework fade into the background. He highlights middleware, a shared base model class, one-action-per-file modules and strict function-based views, and explains why the team avoids signals, class-based views, conventional apps, the built-in admin and forms. He picked Django in 2018 simply because he knew it, and says he has not regretted that choice.

I do not look at Buttondown and see a Django app; I see a well-structured codebase with many things that have been solved by smarter people than myself.
