Split Diffs are Here
Since v0.224, Zed shows diffs side by side by default, with the base text on the left and the working copy on the right scrolling in sync, the most requested feature after its Git integration launched. Because Zed's diffs sit on editable multibuffers spanning many files, the team built the view from two multibuffers and pads the shorter side with spacer blocks so lines stay aligned even while typing. Profiling against large changesets produced optimizations that also benefit other parts of the editor.
Our split diff view looks like one multibuffer, but under the hood it's actually two.
