How Our Community Shipped 66 Git Improvements In Under 2 Months
Zed recaps Let's Git Together, a challenge that ran in November and December 2025 in which staff curated a project board, paired with community members and held regular demo days, resulting in 66 shipped community contributions. Highlights include the much-requested per-file Git history view, a tree view for the Git panel, blame avatars for GitLab, Gitea, Codeberg and other hosts, and managing remotes without leaving Zed. According to Zed, every issue got claimed and new ones were often taken within hours.
