Baroness Campbell gives the UK Parliament’s first ever AI-voiced speech with ElevenLabs
Baroness Campbell, a UK disability rights campaigner with spinal muscular atrophy, addressed the House of Lords during the Second Reading of the Health Bill using a voice ElevenLabs recreated from her old recordings, which ElevenLabs calls the first AI-voiced speech in the UK Parliament. She had relied on an assistant to read her speeches since 2012, and stressed that the arguments were entirely her own as she pressed for protecting Personal Health Budgets. The Lord Speaker said every expert in the chamber should be able to take full part.
“I used AI to speak my own words, not to put words into my mouth. The speech, the arguments and the views are entirely mine,” Baroness Campbell said.
