Pangram releases Pangram Image 1.0, a detector that spots AI-generated images and video and marks where the AI content is

Pangram, a startup that builds AI-content detectors, released two detection models. Pangram Image 1.0 checks whether an image was made by AI and draws a heatmap over the parts it thinks are AI-generated. It was trained to cope with compression, downscaling, blur and noise, and its minimum image size drops from 512x512 to 256x256, with a lower-confidence notice below 512. The smaller, faster Pangram Image Flash 1.0 targets AI video, checking clips frame by frame for generated or edited parts. Pangram self-reports 98.7% accuracy for Flash on DF26, an academic video-detection test set. Both are in Pangram's Chrome extension and API, and the site now takes video uploads. The image detector first came out as a research preview a few months ago; this is the full release.

Why it matters

AI-generated images and video are getting hard to tell apart by eye. A detector that points to the AI-made region and checks video frame by frame is useful for platform moderation and for anyone verifying what they see.
