Slow Mode
A Val Town author proposes Slow Mode, a deliberately slow coding agent that skips one-shot generation and agentic loops, plans with the human first, writes code incrementally, and asks the human to make decisions and name functions while teaching along the way. The author first tried it with CLAUDE.md instructions for Claude Code and the Val Town MCP server, found it easier to keep the whole program in mind, and says Val Town is privately testing a Slow Townie. The opposite is YOLO Mode, in which the agent loops without asking permission, and Townie offers that too.
I find coding in Slow Mode to be more pleasant.
